Photographing paintings

Years of practice and hard work are needed to get the right hues, tones and surface that will transfigure paint on canvas into a meaningful object for contemplation.

Due to these very special properties, no reproduction can substitute the real thing when it comes to experiencing – not merely looking at – a work of art. However, proper documentation is a must.

Proper photography of works of art is not a simple task. Beyond professional equipment, professional expertise, time and patience are employed. As the opening date of my show in Argo Gallery in Athens is closing up, it was my pleasure to work with photographer Lambros Sakelariou in my studio.
